Task 8.1: Advanced sensing and reliable adaptive control

Objectives:

  • Development of advanced signal processing methods for engine diagnostics. In particular knock, injector behaviour and diagnostics of fuel injection equipment methods are to be developed to be applicable for production engines, so as to increase reliability, performance and user friendliness of the engine.
  • New design methods and architecture to be developed for increased reliability of electronics design.
  • Development of diagnostic methods and adaptive control schemes for engine control applications, where advanced control strategies improves performance and engine usability. In particular, a model based engine management scheme is to be developed focusing in increasing robustness and reducing the number of adjustable parameters.
  • Prototype testing on full size engines of the aforementioned developments.
